Announcement - 2023 Reminders will migrate to Google Tasks

 What and When is happening:

In the coming months, Google will be simplifying their task management solutions by migrating Reminders from Google Calendar and Google Assistant to Google Tasks. This means you will have an easy way to view and manage all your to-dos in one place through Google Tasks, regardless of whether you create them using Calendar or Assistant.

Voluntary Migration

Starting on April 12, 2023,  you'll see a prompt in Google Calendar Reminders and Google Assistant to move reminders created in these apps to Tasks.

Automatic Migration

Starting on May 22, 2023, Google Calendar Reminders and Google Assistant will begin to automatically migrate to Tasks for users that have not already migrated.

Why is this happening:

Once the migration is complete, you’ll be able to view and manage all of your to-dos in one place: Tasks. You’ll be able to leverage features in Tasks such as organizing to-dos with multiple lists and adding descriptions for extra organization. Tasks can be accessed on the web in Google Workspace apps like Gmail, Calendar, Docs Editors, Chat and side panel making it easy to create tasks without the need to switch tabs or apps. If you use Assistant, you’ll also be able to create Tasks directly from Assistant.

Recently, Google has increased efforts to make Google Tasks and more efficient and effective to-do list tool such as Assigning Task from Google Docs, Star Tasks, Add Tasks from Chat, and Easily Print Tasks Lists. To learn more about Google Tasks, watch the video posted below.
